To Italy we go! The itinerary is set, hotels & transportation are booked and our minds are already wandering across the Atlantic. In less than two months, I’ll be carrying a bulky camera pack with a DSLR strap irritating my neck and Aaron will poring hopefully – or hopelessly – through maps and Rick Steve’s guidebooks. We’ll squabble in the train station when trying to deciper where to go, but such rumblings are fleeting compared to the amazing place we’ll be and the beauty and history we’ll have the opportunity to see.
Milan, and da Vinci’s “The Last Supper;” Venice, a floating dreamland; Florence, with street lights reflecting off the Arno at Ponte Vecchio, Cinque terre and its brightly colored buildings situated impossibly over the sea; the Amalfi Coast, in a room with a view; and last, but certainly not least: Rome.
Until then, I’ll keep working on my Italian and blog-surfing for food & drink tips, and Aaron will memorize the geography and determine the travel logistics. Maybe I’ll write a few more things here, or maybe not. Regardless, I can assure you that we are definitely counting down the days.
